My name is Tom Stacey. I’ve been blogging here for years, and I’ve recently launched SmarterCompany as a strategic messaging and SEO service provider. (I’ve moved the archive of blog posts previously here over to my other site at TheWordsmith.com.)

Why SmarterCompany.com?

I secured this URL when I was in the executive coaching business. The name appealed to me for several reasons:

  • It’s true that none of us, alone, has all the answers.
  • Together, we are certainly smarter, and becoming more so all the time.
  • And because you can tell a lot about a person by the company they keep.

At one time I thought I might develop an online community here. Between Facebook and LinkedIn though, they’ve pretty much got the online community thing nailed. I’m not interested in competing with networks that already have hundreds of millions of members.

But I am in very interested in helping you show up on those networks in ways that are optimum for your business.  And that starts with making it easy for people to locate you.

It’s critical that you be findable online.

A people-powered shift is occurring in our global economy. Just as Samuel Morse’s telegraph helped expedite the Industrial Revolution, social media tools are transforming the rules of business, from marketing to customer service to management. If you have a small business, you need a seat at the table, in the form of a Web site and a Facebook page that really connect with your prospects.
